As Walnut City Mayor (2012-2013, 2009) and City Council Member (2006-present), Mary Su has been deeply involved in Walnut's ongoing success. Some of Walnut's achievements during Mary's current four-year term on the Walnut City Council have been:
  • Balancing the City budget under difficult economic circumstances without raising taxes.
  • Maintaining a healthy financial reserve for future City emergencies and needs.
  • Completing the Railroad Quiet Zone along Valley Boulevard.
  • Completing Meadowpass Road between Amar and Lemon and improving other city streets.
  • Refunding the City's 4th of July celebration.
  • Maintaining the City's beautiful parks, sports fields, trails and boulevards.
  • Strongly funding the Walnut Sheriff's Station to protect public safety.
  • Creating the Mayor's Economic Advisory Committee.
  • Attracting new businesses such as Panera Bread and the Starbucks complex to Walnut.
  • Supporting Walnut's nationally recognized public schools and community college.
